Child Labor on the BBC

There is also this video about bonded child labor in India.  You can read the story here.  Check out what our friends at the Rugmark
Foundation
are doing to address child labor abuses in the carpet industry in India, among other countries.

Finally, a story about 34 boys who were trafficked from Cote d'Ivoire to Mali  in hopes of becoming
soccer stars also surfaced this week. The boys' parents paid hundreds of dollars each to a trafficker who promised that he could help the young men make it big on a soccer team in
Europe. The story is reminiscent of how many children
in the cocoa industry in Cote d'Ivoire (including the plaintiffs in ILRF’s lawsuit against Nestle, ADM and Cargill)
are trafficked from Mali,
lured by similar promises. Luckily,
these young men were found and the trafficker was arrested.
