Briefing: Seafood Working Group (SWG) Findings on Taiwan and Thailand for the 2022 TIP Report

Date:

Thursday, April 7, 2022 - 8:00am

Human trafficking and forced labor remain widespread throughout the Thailand and Taiwan seafood industries, which supply consumers and brands across the globe. This is in large part due to discriminatory legal and policy frameworks, as well as government failures to promote and protect labor rights for vulnerable categories of workers. Labor rights, particularly freedom of association and collective bargaining, are critical to forced labor prevention, yet these rights are often denied or severely restricted for migrant workers.

Webinar: Snapshots of Organizing Across Asia

Date:

Thursday, October 17, 2019 - 9:00pm to Tuesday, March 19, 2024 - 12:39am

Labor Notes and the International Labor Rights Forum are co-hosting a webinar on October 17 at 9:00 p.m. EST on how labor activists across Asia are building power in the face of multinational corporations.

What are the opportunities and challenges for strengthening solidarity across the region? How can we organize in our own unions to build a movement that can tackle rising inequality across borders? How is state repression impacting how activists organize?

These are some of the questions we hope to discuss with activists from Japan, Myanmar, and the Philippines.
